Duncan Hunter was born on May 31, 1948. He is a Republican from California. Hunter has served since 1981 as a representative of California's 52nd congressional district in northern and eastern San Diego in the U.S. House of Representatives. On March 20, 2007, Hunter announced that he would retire from Congress at the end of the current session. Hunter's son, Duncan Duane Hunter, is campaigning to succeed his father, although he is currently deployed overseas as an officer in the US Marines.
