John McCain was born on August 29, 1936. He is a Republican from Arizona. McCain has served the state of Arizona as a senator in the U.S. Senate since 1986. Prior to that he was a member of the U.S. House of Representatives and the Navy's liason with the Senate. McCain received a Silver Star, a Bronze Star, the Legion of Merit, the Purple Heart and a distinguished Flying Cross for his service during the Vietnam War.
